The Alakazam Magic Convention Returns in 2027!

When we first announced that Alakazam would be holding its very first magic convention, we knew it was going to be something special. What we didn't know was just how special it would become.

On Saturday 9th May 2026, after a year of planning, organising, sleepless nights and the occasional panic attack, the doors finally opened for the very first Alakazam Magic Convention. The moment those first registrants walked through the doors, all of the stress simply disappeared. The excitement, the smiles and the buzz around the venue instantly reminded us why we'd worked so hard to make it happen.

From that very first moment, it felt less like a convention and more like a family reunion.

The Weekend Began Early

Although the main convention took place on Saturday, many members of our incredible AlakaFam arrived on Friday evening to register early and settle into the weekend.

We wanted to make those early arrivals feel extra special, so we organised a surprise that wasn't advertised anywhere.

Everyone was treated to two fantastic mini lectures from our very own Andy Smith and the ever-entertaining Wayne Goodman.

Neither lecture appeared on the official schedule, making it a wonderful bonus for those who had travelled early. It created the perfect atmosphere, giving everyone the chance to relax, meet fellow magicians, catch up with old friends and make plenty of new ones before the main event even began.

By the end of Friday evening it already felt as though the convention had found its own personality—friendly, relaxed and full of laughter.

Saturday... The Magic Begins

Saturday morning arrived and the excitement around the venue was incredible.

Our opening lecture came from the brilliant Tom Wright, who immediately set the tone for what would become an unforgettable day.

He was followed by the phenomenal Marc Spelmann, whose mixture of incredible thinking and engaging performance had the audience completely captivated.

Next up was the ever-energetic Craig Petty, bringing his trademark humour, creativity and practical thinking to the stage.

Our international headline lecturer, David Jonathan, rounded off the lecture programme in style, delivering a session packed with outstanding ideas and inspiring thinking.

Each lecture offered something completely different, meaning there was genuinely something for everyone, whether you love close-up magic, mentalism, stage, parlour or simply discovering new ways to entertain your audiences.

The feedback from every lecture was incredible and seeing people leave the theatre buzzing with ideas made every hour of planning worthwhile.

More Than Just Lectures

Of course, the Alakazam Convention has never been about simply sitting in a theatre watching lectures.

One of our biggest goals was to create somewhere people actually wanted to spend the entire day.

Between lectures, attendees grabbed coffee, enjoyed lunch, chatted with friends, demonstrated tricks they'd just learned and, naturally, visited our fantastic line-up of dealers.

The dealer area became a real hub of activity throughout the day.

Many exhibitors had brought exclusive products, convention offers and even pre-release items that couldn't be found anywhere else. Watching everyone rushing back to compare purchases and show each other their latest finds was exactly what we'd hoped for.

It wasn't just about buying magic, it was about sharing it.

Wherever you looked, groups of magicians were sessioning, laughing and exchanging ideas.

That sense of community is exactly what the Alakazam Convention is all about.

Ending the Day in Style

As if a full day of lectures wasn't enough, the convention concluded with a fantastic Gala Show.

Featuring Mark Bennett, Tom Wright and Marc Spelmann, the evening was the perfect finale to an already unforgettable day.

There were laughs.

There were gasps.

But perhaps the nicest part came after the curtain closed.

Nobody seemed to want to leave.

For another hour or so, attendees stayed behind chatting, sharing stories, taking photographs and simply enjoying each other's company.

That told us everything we needed to know.

The convention had become exactly what we'd dreamed it would be.

Sunday at Alakazam HQ

For those making a full weekend of it, we opened the doors to Alakazam HQ on Sunday morning.

Visitors had the opportunity to browse the shop, meet the team, enjoy a coffee and spend even more time with friends before heading home.

It was the perfect end to an incredible weekend and gave everyone one last opportunity to soak up the atmosphere before returning home inspired and full of new ideas.
