The great thing about the internet is it’s global! Anyone, no matter how big or small can sell their wares worldwide. When the internet was in it’s infancy, I set myself the task of building the very first alakazam.co.uk Website. To be honest, no one really knew what the internet really was in those days and we certainly did not know what it would become.
I was in my early twenties at the time and working for a company which sold computer maintenance contracts. So I was around computers and tech on a daily basis. I remember purchasing a book on HTML coding and setting myself the task of building a site. Websites were different back then (I know i'm sounding old now). They were very basic, they were just online catalogues. There wasn’t any online shopping, no shopping baskets etc. You would find what you wanted and send a cheque in the post.
I remember coming home every evening, having dinner and then heading up to my office to continue coding the site. There were no templates so it was all pure coding. It took time and patience but it was all worth it in the end. One of our big dreams at Alakazam was to have have one site that would service the entire world of magic and I’m finally pleased to say it’s here! We have now combined Alakazam UK and Alakazam USA in to one website. This is great news for all our customers in the USA as they are now not having to miss out on Alakazam Academies and after shows etc. Now for the really great news, we now also have a warehouse based in the USA, at present 95% of orders received from our US customers are dispatched from within the USA! This means faster and cheaper shipping for you and you do not miss out on anything, you even get our monthly newsletter included with your order.
We ship exclusive items to our warehouse on a weekly basis to ensure that we will have what you need, when you need it and we always ensure they have ample stock of the new items on launch night.
