Meet the team.

Hi and in this blog post we are going to meet members of the team in a more indepth manner.

This is the first of many that we will be sharing and if you have someone you would like to suggest for an interview then feel free to email sales@alakazam.co.uk and put in the heading “Waynes suggested interview” 

As stated above this will be a member of the Alakazam team, but not only in-house team members but also creators and behind the scene members too.

So let us get on with the job at hand and meet our first interviewee, this is someone I am proud to call a friend (we are all friends you know) and someone I love to get together with and just chat, about magic, about family (I was invited to stay with his amazing family when I was up north lecturing during 2022).

He is a prolific creator and someone who is known for his amazing work with card gimmicks and creating some of the most original and visually stunning magic.

Before meeting him, I was first introduced to him through my daughter watching him on TIKTOK and wow his videos leap from the screen, so here he is, the one and only, the smiling master and one of the worlds greatest gimmick makers, the man himself

Stevo Watson.

Hi Stevo, so I wanna introduce you to the readers and the world so in 3 lines give me a quick outline of your life as it is today.

Stevo:

Hi Wayne, I was  born in 1985, I have a wonderful other half and we have two kids.  We all live in the North East of England, I love magic and have been in the magic world for just over 19 years.

This is amazing, what kind of magic do you love to perform?

Stevo:

I love Visual magic and I do a lot of  Close-up and Street magic,  I also love to perform Mentalism.

Brilliant, so if I was to stop you in the street or in a bar right now, what kind of effects do you have on you, what is in your wallet or pocket right now?

Stevo:

Well, my wallet is the Assassin V2 so I always have that ready to roll, it's an amazing wallet with so many features and possibilities.

Inside the stealth  I have some business cards and a mini Sharpie, Out to lunch,  Exquizite, Prohibition Monte, S.C.A.R., Twenty1, A folded colour change in the spectators hand (can't remember the name!),Clean License, Celebrity Scorch, Flash Raffle Tickets, Warning Label and finally Litho (my soon to be released effect!).

That is a rammed wallet, okay let's say you forget your wallet or its in your bag and you need to perform an effect when you have nothing on you, what do you do.

Stevo:

Equivoque down to a tattoo card reveal I have.

Now everyone knows you as part of Ace and as one of the best gimmick makers, but you do perform as well, so when you are out and working what effects stand out as favourites to perform.

Stevo:

Ambitious card is always a favourite, also Signed transposition, 

Double Exposure, Spread, ExQuizite, Monkey, Keymaster, Flight, Double Deception, Celebrity Scorch, DFB, Any peek stuff!

And of course your tattoo reveal.

Stevo:

Oh yeah, totally.

So tell me about yourself and what you love about magic.

Stevo:

So I love magic, I love being a part of the magic community and I love watching people's expressions when they see magic performed for them.

For me though, I have had some amazing experiences, like for instance, I love David Blaine, his book “Mysterious Stranger” is one of my all time favourite books and I was so thrilled to actually meet him in Manchester in 2019.

I have also performed in some weird places, like in a mortuary, which was a real experience, for me though, I love experiencing magic myself, I love watching magic and being a part of what is happening, one of the most magical experiences I have ever had, wasn't really our kind of magic, I went to DisneyLand Florida and wow that place is magic. 

That is sooo cool, 

Stevo:

Yeah it was amazing and I loved it so much.  I did get to do magic for some people there and it was a brilliant experience to be adding some magic to a place that is already so magical.

I also love music, and I think music has been a real influence in my life too, I am not a singer but on the karaoke I will have a go, usually “Trouble” by Elvis Presley.  I would love to meet and perform for Eminem, I think he would be a cool guy to meet and jam with.

Yeah I bet he would be, now you're a creator, you have created gimmicks and you have your name on quite a few amazing products, who would you say is your favourite magical creator?

Stevo:

100% Daryl, a true loss to magic when he passed away, but what a legacy he left for us.

To be fair we live in a time with some amazing creators and releases, I remember being blown away by the vanishing deck and Peters VDeck which is killer.

Okay we are gonna wrap this up now, thank you so much for your time and your input, I know everyone loves what you do and you're always a great person to chat to at conventions etc so to close this off do you have any advice you would like to share?
