Val Andrews is one of the most prolific magic writers of all time. With more than 1,000 books and booklets to his name, he has earned his place as a legend of magic publishing.
Many of Andrews' works were printed in extremely limited quantities, and we assumed every last copy had long since disappeared into private collections. So imagine our surprise when we uncovered a forgotten stash of original Spook-Show Stoppers booklets hidden away in our warehouse.
Originally published in 1984, Spook-Show Stoppers is a professionally scripted haunted show designed to delight and terrify audiences of all ages.
You'll guide your spectators through three eerie demonstrations of spirit activity.
First, you introduce them to Oscar, your "pet ghost." This invisible companion tugs on your handkerchief, drinks from a glass of beer, and eventually becomes visible to the audience. After performing a brief dance, Oscar vanishes as mysteriously as he appeared.
Next comes a troublesome poltergeist. Kept confined inside a transparent crate, this restless spirit refuses to cooperate. Every time you place a tambourine inside, it hurls the instrument back out. Eventually, the phantom learns to communicate, answering your audience by striking the tambourine from within its prison.
For the finale, Andrews teaches his full Spirit Cabinet routine. Inside a seemingly ordinary cabinet lurks an entire host of spirits. Objects levitate, fly through the air, and rattle violently. Audience members find themselves mysteriously pickpocketed. Then, for the climax, the spirits manifest as a tangible, misshapen apparition that you can interact with.
Spook-Show Stoppers is a charming piece of classic stage magic from a bygone era. These newly discovered booklets represent the final 40 copies we have ever found. And once they're gone, they're gone for good.
