For decades, Rob created some of the most ingenious, precision-engineered card gimmicks ever released to the magic community. Effects that didn’t just fool people — they redefined what was possible with a deck of cards.

What many don’t know is that Alakazam Magic was built on Rob Bromley creations. In the very early days, it was Rob’s thinking, Rob’s engineering, and Rob’s effects that helped shape who we are. Over the years, we worked closely with him to release some of our best-selling modern classics, including The Extractor, Sharpie Through Card, Simplex Monte, and more.

In the early 2020s, Alakazam acquired the rights to the Bromley range. What followed after Robs untimely death was a long, painstaking search to find craftspeople capable of recreating Rob’s work to his exact, uncompromising standards.

The Deck Penetration

Originally created in February 1995, The Deck Penetration is one of Rob Bromley’s most sought-after and revered classics and for good reason.

This is not just a trick.
It’s a masterclass in playing card engineering.

Each deck takes our master craftsman around TWO HOURS to gimmick entirely by hand. No shortcuts. No compromises. On top of that, the box has been beautifully recreated and finished with a luxurious mat black leather texture, giving it the look and feel of a true collector’s piece.

The Effect

A small box, slightly larger than a deck of cards, is introduced.
A solid bolt runs straight through the centre of the box, secured with a metal nut.

You explain that inside the box is a prediction, a single playing card with a hole through it.

A spectator freely selects a card and leaves it face down on the table.

You now:

• Unscrew the nut

• Remove the bolt

• Hand both out for examination

You gently shake the box…and it clearly sounds like a FULL DECK OF CARDS inside.

Slowly, you remove the lid. Inside is a complete deck of cards and not a single card has a hole, this looks totally impossible and it is!

You spread through the deck. Right in the middle sits one card. A card with a hole through it.

It’s removed. It matches the spectator’s selection perfectly. This moment doesn’t just fool people it breaks them.
